SIGNING A CONTRACT
How to sign a contract on your phone
Most contracts that reach a freelancer or a small business arrive as a PDF and need to go back signed the same day. This is how to turn one around from a phone, without a printer or a scanner.
The four steps
STEP 01
Capture your signature once
Photograph your handwritten signature on white paper. SnapInk lifts it off the page with a real transparent background, so it lands on a contract without a white box around it.
STEP 02
Open the contract
Open the PDF from Files, Photos, or the message it came in. If you were sent paper instead, use the built-in scanner: photograph each page, straighten it, and you have a clean multi-page PDF.
STEP 03
Place what the contract asks for
Signature, date, initials, and any typed text the form needs — company name, title, a reference number. Each is placed where you tap, on any page.
STEP 04
Export a flattened PDF
Choose a quality, export, and send. The app shows the file size each quality produces, which matters when the other side's mail server rejects anything over a few megabytes.
What to watch for on a contract
- Yes:Check whether your name and title are required as typed text next to the signature. Many contracts have a block for it, and a signature alone leaves it incomplete.
- Yes:If the contract has schedules or appendices, they usually need initialling too.
- Yes:Send a PDF, not a photo. Image formats export the first page only, which is a quiet way to send a one-page version of a ten-page contract.
- Yes:Keep the signed file. Nothing is stored on our side, so your copy is the only copy unless you save it somewhere else as well.
What SnapInk does, and does not, do here
SnapInk places an image of your handwritten signature onto the document. It does not verify who you are, issue a certificate, or produce an audit trail, so it is not an electronic signature service in the regulated sense. Whether that is enough depends on your country and on the document — if yours has to be witnessed, notarised, or signed with a qualified electronic signature, use a service built for that.
No account, no upload
The contract never leaves your phone. There is no account to create, nothing is synced, and the app works the same with the connection off.
